Award Winning Flank Steak

Years ago (okay it feels even longer than that) Aaron entered a nationwide contest hosted by Regis and Kelly and won first in the nation in a firefighter cookoff with this award winning flank steak entry. It is simply divine, the flavors robust but not overpowering for the meat and has been enjoyed by our family for a long, long time. To make it you’ll need both this ingredient list and some Shake (link to that spice mix can be found HERE).

Ingredient List

1 Cup STRONG Coffee

1/2 Cup Olive Oil

1 Cup Porter or Stout Beer

3 T Worcestershire Sauce

3 Cloves Garlic

1 T Minced Onion

2 tsp Shake (see our recipe index)

1 T Hot Sauce (ish)

Salt and Pepper - To Taste

1-2 T Soy Sauce (or To Taste)

Instructions

  1. Add ingredients to a gallon ziplock bag and combine, once combined add flank steak and marinate for 24 hours.

  2. Discard marinade and grill flank steak 7 minutes on one side - high heat.

  3. Flip and grill an additional 7 minutes.

  4. Allow flank steak to rest for 5 minutes before carving (yes we were in a hurry in the video :)).
